If you are pretty sure that you should be redeemed, but haven’t been, then you can do it right now.
If you are a first born and not a Kohen or Levi, but aren’t sure about the other points (for instance, you may not know if your mother suffered a miscarriage before you were born), then you should redeem yourself now to remove all doubt.
It is quick. The 5 coins cost less than you expect (a few years ago when the price of silver was higher this was much more expensive). It is an explicit mitzvah in the Torah.
Step 1 – buy the five coins.
I am the owner of a Pidyon HaBen coin set, minted by the Israeli Government. As a part of this process you can buy them by clicking the button here:
Step 2 – read the following:
I am my Jewish mother’s first born, and I may be obligated to redeem myself according to the Torah mitzvah of Pidyon HaBen. I have purchased the required five coins from a Kohane, Noach ben Leib Hennoch HaKohane. I wish to remove all doubt regarding my status as a redeemed person, and am hereby giving the five coins to Noach ben Leib Hennoch as my Pidyon.
That’s it!
